Let's Understand What is Lasik Eye Surgery and How we can help you

When light doesn’t focus on your retina, your vision gets blurry. This is called refractive error. The basic types include:

Nearsightedness (myopia). You see things clearly when they’re close to you, but things farther away are blurry.

Far Sightedness (hyperopia or Hypermetropia). You see faraway things more clearly, but closer things are blurry.

Astigmatism. This can make everything blurry from a near distance because of how your eye is shaped.

LASIK, which stands for laser in-situ keratomileusis, is a popular surgery that can correct vision in people who are nearsighted or farsighted, or who have astigmatism. Lasik surgery involves creating a thin flap on the cornea with an automated microkeratome or Femto Laser. This exposes the underlying corneal tissue. Then, Lasik specialists use an excimer laser to reshape the cornea in a unique pattern (customized) for each patient. Post-surgery, light rays bend appropriately and focus on the sensitive film of the eye called the retina. The result is a sharper and clearer vision.

It’s one of the best vision correction surgeries. Our Specialist team of doctors at Visioncare Super Speciality Eye Hospital in Meerut provides by reshaping your cornea. 1. STANDARD LASIK LASER

Under standard LASIK, after the creation of the corneal flap, your surgeon will use an advanced excimer laser to reshape the cornea by removing a pre-determined amount of corneal tissue. The amount of tissue to be removed is determined during the pre-operative assessment. These measurements are typically in agreement with the recent prescription for your glasses and/or contact lenses.

2. TOPO-GUIDED CUSTOMISED LASIK LASER

Topography-Guided Laser Vision Correction can optimize the surface of the eye’s cornea in such a way that it actually enhances the quality of vision better than has ever been possible before. In clinical studies, Topography-Guided Laser Vision Correction helped 90% of patients see as well or better without glasses than they did with glasses. It can benefit patients in a number of ways, helping them obtain a better quality of vision and reducing the potential for night glare.

Although previous laser vision correction techniques have offered patients incredible precision and accuracy while reshaping the cornea and addressing visual refractive errors, Topography-Guided Laser Vision Correction takes the treatment even further. Instead of just treating the eyeglass prescription, this technology utilizes unparalleled diagnostic capabilities to identify and record imperfections in the curvature of the cornea and the optics of the cornea, combining those measurements with the eyeglass prescription to give the eyes a better focusing surface. The technique goes hand-in-hand with our state-of-the-art I design 2 Custom Vue and topography-guided Planning Software.

3. PHOTOREFRACTIVE KERATECTOMY ( PRK)

Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) is a laser eye surgery — specifically a type of refractive surgery performed in those candidates who are not having enough thickness in their cornea to perform a routine LASIK procedure. In this technique, Lasik surgeon remove only the topmost soft layer of the cornea known as epithelium before application of laser and does not make a flap. A refractive problem is where your eyes don’t bend light properly, which keeps you from seeing your best. There’s a chance that after your PRK you might not need your glasses or contact lenses anymore, or at least only for certain activities like reading or driving at night.

4. Phakic/ ICL (Implantable Collamer lens)

Phakic intraocular lenses, or phakic lenses, are lenses made of soft acrylic foldable material that is implanted into the eye permanently to reduce a person’s need for glasses or contact lenses. Phakic refers to the fact that the lens is implanted into the eye without removing the eye’s natural lens. During phakic lens implantation surgery, a small incision is made in front of the eye. The phakic lens is inserted through the incision and placed just in front of the natural lens and just behind the iris.

5. Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)

RLE (Refractive Lens Exchange) is a vision correction technique for patients who are over 45 years old and frustrated with their reading glasses and decline in vision.  RLE is also known as the Lifestyle Lens because it allows patients to return to many of the activities that they enjoy. During RLE surgery, the natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with an artificial Intraocular Lens (IOL) to correct and focus your vision.  RLE is a very similar procedure to cataract surgery, which is the most common surgery performed worldwide.  The only difference is that, in RLE, the natural lens of the eye isn’t cloudy and the primary objective of the surgery is to reduce dependence on glasses.

At Visioncare SSEH, we have a range of premium IOLs to suit your eyes and your lifestyle.  We take very accurate measurements with advanced equipment to select the IOL that is right for you. The IOL can help you see near or far, or a multifocal or extended vision IOL can be selected to treat both visual distances simultaneously. For most patients, RLE can result in total independence from wearing glasses.
